Year 5 Designs Meet NASA
As part of their Our Place in Space unit of study, Year 5 students created model rovers and drones for specific planets and their distinct weather conditions.
Students' concepts and designs were then shared with and evaluated by their peers.
Following this collaborative work, students had the opportunity to connect with NASA engineer Mick Frawley, who grew up on the Central Coast.
Sharing his experiences designing and building numerous space rovers that are currently in space, including his instrumental role in the Europa Clipper mission which will launch to Jupiter in October and arrive in 2030, Mick was able to give students a first hand insight into where their studies could take them in the future.
